Bovis Lend Lease has been honoured with three awards at the Master Builders of Australia 2009 National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards including the major award as National Commercial Builder of the Year. The awards were held at Conrad Jupiters on the Gold Coast on Saturday 7 November.
The Melbourne Recital Centre and Melbourne Theatre Company Project was celebrated for its outstanding design, engineering and construction, while The Gauge commercial building at Victoria Harbour was recognised for its sustainability.
Bovis Lend Lease received the top award for a commercial project, the National Commercial Builder of the Year award, for its work on the Melbourne Recital Centre and Melbourne Theatre Company project.
The project was recognised by the judges as an iconic addition to Melbourne’s cultural scene that combines innovative construction techniques and building materials to respond to the demands of the building’s form and function. Pioneering project elements include extensive free-formed glass reinforced concrete panels and acoustic hoop pine panelling.
The Melbourne Recital Centre and Melbourne Theatre Company project was also recognised with the award for Best Commercial Construction over $100 million.
Bovis Lend Lease’s third award for the evening was for The Gauge at Victoria Harbour. The Lend Lease Victorian headquarters won the Boral National Environment and Energy Efficiency Award.
Bovis Lend Lease General Manager – Victoria/South Australia/Tasmania, Mr Geoff Moore, said the awards are a great achievement that represents the pinnacle of recognition in the construction industry.
“Bovis Lend Lease is proud to have received these awards, which are in recognition of our considerable global expertise in delivering technically complex projects across different sectors.
“Incorporating the highest standards in design, construction and sustainability, these projects have already become synonymous with Melbourne, with their successful delivery testament to the collaboration, commitment and skill of all parties involved,’’ Mr Moore said.
