Bovis Lend Lease Appointed to Deliver Merrimac West Wastewater Network Augmentation Stage 2 Alliance
Bovis Lend Lease has been appointed by Gold Coast Water to deliver the sustainable augmentation of the Merrimac West wastewater catchment, incorporating the Nerang, Gilston and Carrara areas of the Gold Coast, Queensland.
The project involves the scoping, design, procurement, construction and commissioning of a new major trunk sewer network to cater for future development and predicted population growth. The works will include large diameter gravity sewers and rising mains, new pumping stations, emergency storage, odour control measures and decommissioning of existing wastewater assets.
Bovis Lend Lease will be the key alliance contractor, supported by Aurecon and WorleyParsons as sub-alliance design partners.
Bovis Lend Lease Australia Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tony Costantino, said the Merrimac West alliance represents an important addition to the company’s growing workbook in the water and infrastructure sectors.
“We have significant expertise in structuring complex infrastructure projects to ensure existing operations are not compromised and we will apply our considerable expertise in water and pipeline projects to ensure the upgrade meets the current and future needs of the community,” Mr Costantino said.
“Bovis Lend Lease, Gold Coast Water, our design partners and all stakeholders are committed to delivering these essential capital works with minimal disruption to the community.”
The alliance will commence later this month with the project expected to take approximately two years to complete.
Bovis Lend Lease has an extensive record in the delivery of major, technically complex water infrastructure projects in Australia and New Zealand. The company is currently a principal partner in two major alliances: Water Delivery Alliance, responsible for the delivery of the pipeline for Sydney’s Desalination Project; and Networks Alliance, responsible for major improvements to the water distribution network across Sydney.
Bovis Lend Lease’s previous industry experience includes successful implementation of the Sydney Water SewerFix Alliance Program, the construction of Prospect Water Filtration Plant and major upgrades to Sewage Treatment Plants at Cronulla and Noosa in Australia and Mangere and Hutt Valley in New Zealand.
