Shanghai Expo 2010

|
With a theme of Better City Better Life, the 2010 World Expo will be taking place in Shanghai. It will be the biggest expo in history, with over 240 participating countries and organisations and seventy million visitors expected over its six months of operation from May 2010.
Lend Lease is proud to be participating in the Shanghai 2010 World Expo in two ways – as a Gold Sponsor of the Australian Pavilion and, via Bovis Lend Lease, as the design and construction manager of the Pavilion. The World Expo will see us showcase innovation and leadership in the property sector at a number of levels.
Bovis Lend Lease was appointed the Australian Government in November 2007 to provide construction, exhibition and technical operations services worth A$49.15 million for the Australian Pavilion.
The Pavilion will be a major venue at the World Expo 2010 and is Australia’s largest ever commitment to a World Expo. Key features of the pavilion include:
a weathered steel façade which responds to the climatic conditions of Shanghai
a building shape and colour inspired by some of Australia’s natural icons
dynamic and technologically advanced exhibits and materials
a showcase of Australian design, engineering and construction expertise
Scheduled for practical completion in March 2010, the pavilion will be ready for the Shanghai World Expo to take place between 1 May and 31 October 2010.
Lend Lease's sponsorship of the Australian Pavilion includes a number of activities focusing on:
delivery of green initiatives in the Pavilion, such as rainwater harvesting and smart lighting
sharing green building expertise between Australia and China with a special delegation visit in 2010
interactive display that will show Pavilion visitors how the development of green buildings, and the green refurbishment of old buildings, will make buildings healthier places to live and work and reduce the carbon emissions from cities around the world.
