Key projects in our portfolio included the Hanesbrands New Textile Facility, Shanghai International Expo Centre, Mary Kay Cosmetics Facility, Shanghai Racquet Club, Beijing Yin Tai Centre, commercial fit outs for British Petroleum Shanghai, Citibank and Cisco System offices.
Bovis Lend Lease is a respected global brand trusted by international firms. We are also recognised as a leader in promoting sustainability initiatives including implementing a successful safety culture, developing award winning sustainable buildings and with a strong focus on best practice.
As an example, in 2006, global telecommunications provider Nokia contracted Bovis Lend Lease to provide construction management services for their new headquarters in Beijing. The project showcased Bovis Lend Lease’s capabilities in meeting high safety standards, delivering on schedule and within budget to the highest quality. It was awarded “The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold for New Construction” in 2008. LEED is a Green Building Rating System developed by the U.S. Green Building Council that recognises achievements in environmentally sustainable construction.
A key feature of our business in China is our Technical Services Group (TSG) comprising architects, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, due diligence and environmental engineers and cost planners. The TSG brings together a unique combination of international design expertise trained with local design and standards knowledge. The combination of internationally-trained design professionals, designers and engineers allows the flow of integrated cost-effective design services that can be customised for our clients.
Our architects and engineers are well grounded in local conditions and knowledge in delivering projects in China, particularly in the areas of building codes, environmental standards, authority approval processes and are familiar with the products that can be used in China. The TSG have developed a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the expectations of our international clients, where their projects may require additional compliance; the international codes and practices, construction standards and detailing to ensure that the projects that we deliver in China are no different from the projects delivered elsewhere in the world.
The conceptual and critical parts of the design works are generated in-house by the TSG. The TSG then engages and manages local Chinese design institutes to develop the detail design and documentation under the close supervision of our architects and engineers. The sharing of design responsibilities between our TSG and the local design institutes will ensure that our clients gain the “most” cost effective design solution and provide the necessary reassurance that the design has been correctly developed to meet the project requirements.
